Dear SFC Partners,
Hopefully, you saw our board chair’s communication last week. It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that I let you know of my departure from SFC at the end of this year. By the time I leave, I will have served almost 15 years in this role, working alongside an incredible staff, board, and community to help shape a more just and regenerative food system. While it’s difficult to think about leaving, I feel it’s the right time for me and this organization.
We have weathered a huge storm, and while this pandemic is not over, we are strongly positioned both financially and programmatically to accomplish our mission under a bold, new vision. I am now ready to hand over the reins. Between our strong internal bench and our board’s leadership, I’m confident SFC will secure an amazing successor in this role.
I have the opportunity to join Mission Squared next year, transforming organizations to be purpose-driven and reach ambitious visions. But the part that jazzes me the most is the work around emotional intelligence and helping individuals be more joyful, both personally and professionally. I knew that my next step after nonprofit leadership was to get back to wellness work, similar to my previous work as a therapist.
I’m so honored and humbled to be part of SFC’s growth and transformation, which has been the most fulfilling experience of my career life. I look forward to the next several months continuing to work with you and all of our community partners. If we’ve learned anything from this global pandemic, it’s that SFC’s mission is more relevant now than ever before. Thank you for your support during my time as ED and your continued SFC support long after!
In solidarity,
Ronda Rutledge, Executive Director
