If the Covid-19 lockdown inspired you to dig your bike out of the garage to help you stay active, or has you daydreaming about fun community events, consider signing up for the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride!
The ride is on Saturday, September 19 in Martindale, Texas and it’s perfect for riders of any ability. SFC is proud to be one of the beneficiaries of this great event.
Proceeds from the ride are shared between several organizations who support breast cancer fighters and survivors in Central Texas. For SFC, funds go towards the Cooking After Cancer series, offered twice a year through our Happy Kitchen program.
This series reaches about 50 people each year. It’s not limited to breast cancer survivors, but that’s the most common diagnosis for people in the class.
Class meets once a week for six weeks. Each session includes a healthy recipe demo and sample. We also share general nutrition information (like eating more fruits and vegetables) and tips specific to cancer survivorship (like managing inflammation).
After class, each family receives the ingredients for the recipe so they can try it at home.
